Investment Strategy

SCP specializes in two broad stages of investment: early-stage venture capital and growth equity.  SCP is dedicated to helping talented management teams and entrepreneurs build value in their companies. The firm’s investment strategy is driven by a focus on high growth companies with strong fundamentals and a unique market opportunity.   The firm is not limited to a narrow set of investment criteria and has a diversified approach to the stages and securities in which it invests.   SCP is flexible in providing capital in a manner that addresses the goals of management and shareholders of the companies.

SCP early-stage investments are typically in the form of Series A venture funding for companies that have proven an initial set of assumptions and attracted an exceptional core management team.  The firm applies its company-building expertise, vast network of resources and deep capital base to help its early stage portfolio companies become leaders in their respective markets.  SCP growth equity investments are in revenue-generating companies with proven business models that are seeking larger amounts of capital to accelerate growth.

Across all stages of our investment spectrum, SCP seeks out companies that would benefit from its management, company-building and financial expertise.  SCP is an active, long-term investor who stays involved with, and continues to invest in its portfolio companies as they mature.  In addition to providing long term financial support, SCP helps its portfolio companies build value through:

  • Active participation on Boards of Directors
  • Providing input on business development and strategy
  • Recruiting senior executives and identifying industry leaders to strengthen Boards of Directors
  • Leveraging its extensive network to make introductions to, or facilitate discussions with, potential customers or business partners
  • Providing guidance on acquisition strategy and financing
  • Offering valuable insight and guidance as companies pursue partnerships and financial transactions
